Newsletter Spring 2015
Welcome to our spring newsletter with news about what’s happening here at Hawkinge House.
Have you seen our dementia café?
Our new dementia café ‘The Den’ is now open to help those relatives and friends who want to understand a little more about dementia. You can relax in quiet surroundings and enjoy a coffee while you look through our dementia support tool and pick up other relevant literature. The online tool is very easy to use, even if you are not computer ‘savvy’, and staff are on hand to help. Pop in and visit us soon!
Graham Care Awards
Congratulations to social assistant Maria Miller who was Hawkinge House’s winner at the gala awards ceremony held in November. Thank you to everyone who nominated our staff members. With so many wonderful nominations it was very difficult to choose just one winner so this year we will be looking to celebrate the achievements of three winning members of staff. You can see photos and videos of our 2014 Awards ceremony on our website. Nomination forms for this year’s Graham Care Awards will be available in May and our ceremony will take place on 13 November.
Respect, Privacy and Dignity Week
In April we invited relatives, friends and visitors to help us explore what we mean by respect, privacy and dignity for our residents. The week was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who posted comments in our reception, your feedback will be used to help staff maintain our high quality standards. We will be repeating this event in the future so please look out for posters around the home.
Care Home Open Day
It’s national Care Home Open Day on Friday 19 June and we will be open to the public from 11- 4pm. We will be arranging a host of activities to showcase life at Hawkinge House including arts and crafts and, of course, the fabulous Hawkinge Howlers choir! More details will be on our website soon.
