Newsletter Summer 2014
Welcome to our summer newsletter. This month we were very proud to learn that in our latest CQC inspection report all standards inspected were found to be met. It was lovely to read so many warm and positive comments made by residents about our home, our staff and our wide range of activities. The inspectors also noted how our care planning includes detailed life histories of our residents which enable us to really get to know them and help them to feel settled. The CQC report was published on 1st July 2014 and you can see a copy here or on our website.
Hawkinge Howlers on TV!
Did you catch our wonderful Hawkinge Howlers choir on Meridian TV and BBC Radio Kent as part of the coverage for National Dementia Week in May?
It’s a great story about the positive impact our social programme is having on the lives of our residents and you can see it again here on our homepage. Our thanks go to Chris Gage from the Ladder to the Moon project who helped us create the choir and with whom we continue to work closely. Click here to see a video of Chris talking about bringing fun, laughter and joy to all the Hawkinge House community.
Celebrating Diversity
At Hawkinge House we’re proud to celebrate cultural diversity within our community and within our workforce. Our overseas staff may be small in number but they bring with them a wide range of qualifications plus experience, intelligence and insight which is benefitting everyone here. I am urging visitors and staff to help our new overseas staff settle in and feel at home here, so please do take time to say ‘hello’ and get to know them.
